The Practical Caravan Awards 2024, in association with The Insurance Emporium, are now upon us!

Running from 2nd-8th October, the Awards see our expert judging panel select the standout caravans and tow cars on the market.

For each of this year’s categories, our panel have used our combined decades of industry experience to pick out an initial shortlist before selecting an overall winner. As well as this, our panel will also be sharing our choice for the best caravan accessories, in association with Compass.

Meet the judges of the Practical Caravan Awards 2024:

Sarah Wakely

Sarah Wakely

Sarah is the Editor-in-chief of Practical Caravan. An experienced caravanner, Sarah has been with the brand since 2013. Her first trip took place in a Sprite Alpine, and since then, she hasn’t looked back.

Paul Critcher

Paul Critcher

Paul is the Deputy Editor of Practical Caravan and loves getting out in a van to explore the great outdoors. With over 20 years of experience as a journalist behind him, Paul specialises in adventure and travel.

Peter Baber

Peter Baber

Peter is Practical Caravan’s Reviews Editor and reports on the latest forecourt releases. His first caravan reviews date back to the early 1990s when he first worked on Practical Caravan and he has twice been shortlisted for a Caravan Writers Guild award.

Peter Byrne

Peter Byrne

As the Content Editor for Practical Caravan, Peter has over half a decade of experience as a digital editor behind him, and oversees the brand’s online buying guides and features.

Jo Davies

Jo Davies

Jo is the Staff Writer for Practical Caravan, and loves taking her converted micro-camper out for trips. She regularly writes travel features, campsite round-ups, and sources gear recommendations for the title.

Andrew Jenkinson

Andrew Jenkinson

One of the UK’s leading caravan historians, Andy is an expert within the industry, and has numerous books published. He has been touring since 1969, and is a frequent contributor to Practical Caravan.

Nigel Hutson

Nigel Hutson

A lifelong caravanner, Nigel often contributes travel features, reviews and technical articles to Practical Caravan. He regularly takes his van out for trips across the UK and Europe with his wife Kay.

John Sootheran

John Sootheran

John is a regular contributor to Practical Caravan. He has won several Caravan Writers’ Guild Awards, and produced a TV pilot about caravanning adventures in Cornwall

David Motton

David Motton

David Motton is a former editor of Practical Caravan. He is now Tow Car editor for the title, carrying out tow car tests and reviews that appear in both print and online.
