A perennial favourite, this wonderful site set in 30 acres of gorgeous countryside has retained its Regional Winner title, topping the Dorset sites poll for three years now.

Much of this success is built on its green credentials. The 18 acres of woodland, along with heathland, lakes and a river, provide habitats for all kinds of wildlife. The area around the lakes is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) because of its unusual and rare species – dragonflies, birds, fish, heron and otters – and the campsite has won a David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for several years running. In 2020, it was presented with a special award by David’s son, Rufus.

There’s a large, secure dog-walking area, and dogs can explore the woods off-lead, although they are not allowed in the SSSI, around the lakes or in the river.

Site facilities are excellent, with four heated, recently refurbished toilet and shower blocks providing power showers – there’s even a warm-water dog-wash for pooches. Other improvements include upgrades to pitches and an extension to the bar. A number of food vendors visit the park, and to complete the camping experience, fire pits are available for hire.
