Volkswagen Touaregs and Porsche Cayennes hit the spotlight as the VW Group confirms details of a recall, due to a problem with a pedal mechanism

If you tow your caravan with a Volkswagen Touareg or a Porsche Cayenne built between 2011 and 2016, then pay attention – your car could be subject to a recall. But don’t worry, it should be a quick and easy fix.

This recall affects 391,000 VW Touaregs and 409,477 Porsche Cayennes, and the issue occurs on both models because they’re built on the same underpinnings. In Great Britain, the VW Group says this recall will impact 17,219 Touaregs, while 14,600 Cayennes in the UK are also affected, according to Porsche.

The cause of this recall is a fault with a pedal mechanism and the required work involves checking a circlip on the bearing bracket for pedals. Porsche calls the work “a preventative measure”.

“The problem was found during internal inspections and remedied in the ongoing series,” Porsche explained in an official statement. “Vehicle owners will be contacted directly by the Porsche dealer responsible for them. A workshop appointment that will be free of charge will be arranged as quickly as possible and will take less than half an hour.”

So if you own a 2011-2016 Cayenne or Touareg, expect to hear from Porsche or VW soon, then get this sorted ahead of your next tour.

It is another bit of bad news for the VW Group, following last autumn’s emissions scandal.
