I love a bargain – and Amazon Prime Day is the ideal time to grab that piece of caravanning kit that I never knew I needed. Admittedly, though, it’s not always easy to work out what represents a real bargain, no matter whether you’re a newbie or very experienced at our pastime.

I’ve been the editor of Practical Caravan for six years now, however, and over that time I’ve gained a bit of insight into what caravanning kit to look out for when it comes to Prime Day sales. So, with that in mind, I’ve had a look through the Amazon Prime Day sale and have found six gadgets that I think caravanners will love – and best of all, every one costs less than £10.

So, without further ado, here’s my pick of Prime Day bargains that are all under £10…

Luigi's Cable Storage Bag
Image: Amazon

Luigi’s Cable Storage Bag was £9.99 now £7.99

Trying to make your electric hook-up lead rolled up neatly can be tricky at the best of times; add in a blustery, wet day on a campsite as you pack up to go home, and you’re more than likely just to shove it straight into a locker, tangles and all. But that’s where I reckon that this handy storage bag will help: roll your cable tightly and it will fit snugly into the bag, where it’ll be kept tidy – and untangled – until the next time you want to use it. The bag is water resistant, too, so wet, muddy cables won’t dirty your van’s interior.

MR.SIGA Mini Dustpan and Brush Set

MR.SIGA Mini Dustpan and Brush Set was £11.99 now £7.99

When I’m away on tour I like to keep my caravan as tidy as possible, but it’s impossible to avoid grass, mud and small stones being walked into the interior from time to time, particularly during the wetter, colder months. Not to worry – help is at hand in the diminutive form of the Mr Siga Mini Dustpan and Brush set. It’s nicely compact, so can easily be stored in a locker or cupboard, and it’s environmentally friendly thanks to its bamboo handle. I’ve read through the reviews and lots of users comment on its quality and design, despite the low price.

Thermos Translucent Desk Mug

Thermos Translucent Desk Mug was £7.99 now £6.39

If you’ve ever sat outside your caravan, with a hot drink by your side, you’re not alone – it’s something that many of us caravanners enjoy when we’re away on tour. What’s less enjoyable is the fact that your coffee or tea becomes cold much more quickly, or ends up with an unfortunate insect floating in it.

Thankfully, the Thermos Translucent Desk Mug should be able to help with both issues. Its double-wall insulation will keep your drink hot for longer, while the splash-resistant lid will help keep insect intruders at bay. Best of all, it’s at a great price this Prime Day – so why not buy two?

AA Car Headlamp Headlight Beam Converters
Image: Amazon

AA Car Headlamp Headlight Beam Converters was £5.49 now £4.59

If you can’t change the direction of your tow car’s headlights, and you forget to buy beam converters (which are a legal requirement when driving on the Continent), you could end up having to buy them on the ferry – which might not be the best deal. So I’d suggest buying a couple of these handy AA converters now, and keeping them for when you need them – I’ve used this particular brand on a number of European tours, and have found them to be good value. They’re easy to fit, too, thanks to the included guide which covers hundreds of vehicle makes and models.

Packing Cubes

Packing Cubes was £9.99 now £8.49

If you’re looking for a cheap, easy way to keep your caravan’s lockers more organised, then you should take a look at packing cubes. Many of us will be familiar with them, but if you’re not, then the concept is simple: they’re small bags of varying sizes that allow you to pack clothing and shoes away neatly. If you pack them at home, all you need to do is then move them to your tourer’s lockers during your trip, then move them back home at the end of your trip. You can pack different types of clothing in different sizes, or mix and match outfits – whatever suits your requirements.

Maypole Breakaway Cable
Image: Amazon

Maypole Breakaway Cable was £6.47 now £5.50

A breakaway cable is an essential piece of caravanning safety equipment – you must use one for any braked trailer, such as a caravan – but they do wear and can break. It’s a great idea to keep a spare in the van, just in case, and this unit from Maypole looks to be a good price this Prime Day – it also has some excellent reviews.

The cable itself is a metre in length, has a 3mm diameter and is finished in red PVC to help protect it from the elements. Maypole is also a well-known name in the industry, so we reckon that you can buy with confidence here.
