A new range of caravans designed for all-year-round touring – even in the coldest climates – is the main new offer for the 2027 season from Knaus.
The Nordwind range – to distinguish it from the German manufacturer’s existing Südwind product – features not just Alde wet central heating but also Alde underfloor heating, which could make it tempting for fans of winter caravanning.
All wastewater pipework is located inside the vehicle to reduce the risk of freezing over. The waste water is collected in a 40-litre onboard waste tank.
The design has been developed in collaboration with Alde in Sweden, which Knaus says means this is a type of caravan that is ideally suited for even the coldest conditions.
The caravans also feature a minimalist design, with aluminium-framed windows with pleated blackout blinds, and textile wall coverings.
In the kitchen you get a two-way opening fridge and a hybrid hob with an induction hob and “gas on glass” burners – mounted on a glass or ceramic surface instead of stainless steel, and designed for those who want an open flame but still a surface that is easy to clean.
On the outside you have integrated grab handles, a continuous third brake light and full-LED Cateye rear lights, as well as Knaus’s own design FoldXpand rear panel, which is designed to provide more interior space without extra length.
Knaus is also making all its Sport models available as Platinum Selection models this year, with a standard spec at what it hopes will be a competitive price.
At the same time, Knaus’s budget brand Weinsberg is launching the all-electric CaraLife caravan, aimed at a younger market.
This features an induction hob in the kitchen, and air conditioning, with a contrasting exterior finish and fresh colours on the inside.
Prices for all models are yet to be revealed.
In other manufacturer news, Elddis recently announced its caravans will continue, with production moving to Germany from next year.
