IT WAS SMILES all round in Sussex last weekend as Jim Hibbs, Managing Director of Coachman Caravans, cut the ribbon at the latest Marquis Caravans branch.

Marquis is a major motorcaravan dealer with nine UK centres, but in 2010 it expanded the product range to include touring caravans. The first branches were in Northants and Lancashire.

Like the other branches, Marquis Sussex sells hand-picked used tourers alongside new Sprite, AS and Coachman caravans. The addition of the Sussex branch brings the total to three. It celebrated the branch upgrade with a three-day show at the branch.

Feeling optimistic

Andy Brand, Marketing Director for Marquis, said: “We’ve organised the brilliant weather, so let’s hope we can fill this place with happy customers. We run these shows at our three biggest branches and they’re always successful. We hope that 700 cars will turn up this weekend and our last show saw 35 motorhome sales.”

As the ribbon hit the floor, customers arrived, enjoying the free refreshments and talking to the sales teams. Over 100 couples visited the event in just the first two hours.

Mathew Pearson, Sales Manager at sister dealership Marquis Northampton, said: “Days like today are really important. It’s brilliant to see another Marquis branch selling caravans.

“And it’s a real skill. You need to know your product, and know what will work for the family or couple you’re talking to. Today is about showing the customers Marquis caravans has these skills and can offer them what they need.”

Coachman’s Jim Hibbs was thrilled with the new site. “Coachman is proud to be suppliers to Marquis. This is just what the caravan industry needs. Marquis tell me they’ll be putting in the biggest orders of Coachman caravans in the near future – I can’t wait!”
