Durham Caravans has fully reopened following the suspected arson attack in April, while police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to question in connection with the incident.
The fire at the dealership, on the Belmont Industrial Estate outside Durham, broke out at 8.15pm on 4 April. It caused significant damage to several caravans and to the main showroom leading to the dealership having to have limited opening for over a month.
The dealership caters to both those looking for a new tourer and those thinking of buying a used caravan, stocking a variety of makes of caravans, including new tourers from Knaus and Weinsberg.
For some weeks, Durham Caravans was only able to display a few vehicles outside where customers were allowed to go, because the indoor showroom, which takes up most of the site, had been declared unsafe.
But last week director Craig Goodenough said, “We are back up and running and the showroom is now open and we can welcome customers back to browse again.”

The investigation into the incident, which is being run jointly by Durham Police and County Durham and Darlington Fire Service, continues. Durham Police have issued a CCTV image of a man they want to question in connection with the incident.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Constable Rogowski at [email protected].
