A Welsh caravan manufacturer has returned to the Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show at the NEC this week (17th-22nd February) for the first time in 12 years.

The Fifth Wheel Company is perhaps best known for the “fifth wheel” vehicles it makes under the Celtic Rambler and Dreamseeker brands. These require a base to mount onto on the back of a pick up, rather than a conventional towbar.

But the company also produces a conventional caravan, the Inos, built on an Al-Ko chassis and with GRP body panels and a wood-free construction process.

Like its fifth wheel cousins, the Inos comes with a slide-out. On the Inos, this holds one of the two settees in the front lounge, which also includes an L-shaped settee at the front and an L-shaped kitchen in front of a partition that opens to reveal a transverse bed in front of a double wardrobe with a sliding door and a set of drawers. The washroom straddles the rear of the van, and includes a huge shower cubicle.

As you might expect, all this gives the twin-axle caravan a shipping length of 8.2m and an MTPLM of 2800kg with a 400kg payload. It doesn’t come cheap either. Much of the vehicle remains bespoke – there is a huge variety of upholstery finishes, for example, and you can even supply your own – so prices are likely to start well north of £70,000.

Anyone buying an Inos, however, can if they want to spend their first few nights in it on the company’s own caravan park next to the factory in Rhualit in Denbighshire, while any teething problems are sorted out. During that time you also have free access to a company owned spa nearby.

The Fifth Wheel Company is on stand 2220 at the show.

Another high-end tourer to make its debut at the show is the Coachman Lusso IV, the latest addition to the luxury range of tourers. The new model comes with a washroom that straddles the centre of the caravan. Joining it in debuting at the NEC are models from Adria’s updated Action and Adora ranges.
