From Towcar Awards 2008

MPVS DON’T COME much bigger than this. The Grand Voyager is very grand indeed. You’d expect seven seats, but not so much leg- and head-room for each passenger.

Most seven-seaters struggle for luggage space, but the Chrysler is much better than most. Set up to seat five, it had plenty of room for all our luggage, and that was without using the storage bins under the passengers’ feet.

To drive, though, the Chrysler feels big and ponderous, and a van doesn’t help. The car laboured from 30-60mph in 19.9 seconds. It wasn’t comfortable in the lane-change test either. The biggest issue is the paltry towing limit. By rights, it’s heavy enough for a 1900kg van to be an 85% match, but owners are stuck with a legal limit of 1600kg.

3/5: A great MPV, but disappointing as a towcar.
