Kia has updated the Sorento with a new appearance, updated infotainment and a wider choice of specifications.
With three trim levels available to hybrid, plug-in hybrid and diesel tow car buyers, the new range starts from £41,995. That’s £3030 less than the pre-facelift version of the vehicle.
The cheapest model is the entry-level diesel. To drive, it’s just as before. So while it’s not as agile as a BMW X3, it rides comfortably and has enough pulling power to a van, so long as you’re sensible with your car/caravan match.
On the outside, the car borrows styling cues from the all-electric EV9 – see my review of the Kia EV9 GT-Line 378bhp AWD for more on this. Inside, the infotainment has been updated. The 12.3-inch touchscreen is huge, but the touch-sensitive controls along the lower dash are fiddly, because they have dual functions.
Otherwise, the cabin is just as practical as before, with room for adults in all seven seats, plentiful storage and multiple USBs.
The entry-level ‘2’ spec includes 17-inch alloys (19-inch on the PHEV), cloth and artificial-leather upholstery, and a six-speaker stereo. Step up to ‘3’ trim for 19-inch alloys, LED headlights, leather upholstery, powered driver’s seat adjustment, and uprated driver assistance systems. The most expensive ‘4’ specification has a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather and much more.
