The best caravan park in Dorset
Last year’s Regional Winner has successfully retained its crown and has again been voted the best caravan park in Dorset in our Top 100 Sites Guide 2026.
The campsite sits in 20 acres of tranquil parkland and is perfectly placed for exploring some of Dorset’s most popular attractions.
For caravanners who fancy a break from driving, there is a bus that stops at the site’s entrance, which heads to Poole, Swanage and Weymouth. Other destinations to visit include Bournemouth, Dorchester and the unforgettably breathtaking Jurassic Coast.
South Lytchett provides spacious pitches, including larger deluxe fully serviced pitches which come with individual picnic benches.
The campsite’s facilities include award-winning heated amenity blocks, a well-stocked shop which sells local produce, a laundry, free Wi-Fi, a children’s play area, and The Manor’s Tap bar. There is also the option of hiring bikes to explore the surrounding beauty of Dorset.
In last year’s Top 100 Sites Guide, South Lytchett was also awarded the title of the best site for pets, so it’s unsurprising that there are facilities for any four-legged friends, thanks to a 2.5-acre dog exercise area and a dog wash.
For the 2026 touring season, the campsite has added a van selling homemade pizza for those who want a break from cooking. Alternatively, make use of the food trucks that stop by.

Those familiar with our Top 100 Sites Guides will recognise Back of Beyond Touring Park, a caravan park that was our Regional Winner for Dorset for an impressive five years on the bounce, with its most recent triumph coming in our 2024 Guide. The adults-only campsite can be found in 30 acres of picturesque countryside.
For the 2026 season, the site has been carrying out upgrades, with more pitches now fully serviced, while two ensuite glamping units are being added.
Facilities include a reception shop where local produce can be purchased, four heated toilet and shower blocks, a licensed bar, a washing-up area, and a laundry room, while a dog wash should help to keep any muddy paw prints in your tourer to a minimum.
Anglers will be able to enjoy fishing in the Moors River on the park’s boundary too, so long as they have a valid licence.
From Back of Beyond, guests will find themselves able to explore the New Forest National Park, Bournemouth, Southampton, Poole and Christchurch. Alternatively, they could stay on site and wander through the 18 acres of woodland, which includes a Site of Special Scientific Interest around the wildlife lakes.

This family-run campsite will provide a relaxing base for all your excursions. Weymouth itself, where the harbour and sandy beach await, is around five miles from the site.
Facilities include a well-stocked shop which sells local produce and is open all year, two large wash blocks, a play area, a dog wash, and, during the main season, the dog-friendly Red Barn will be open, where you can enjoy hot meals and locally brewed alcoholic drinks.
Don’t miss the goats and donkeys that call the site home, either.

Set within the heart of the New Forest on part of the old Holmsley airfield, Holmsley Campsite offers a unique and scenic base for camping holidays where you are surrounded by ancient woodland and open heathland. The grazing ponies and wildlife on view are a bonus, at a site which is right on the border with Hampshire.
There are toilets, showers, a shop, takeaway and a self-service dog wash along with drinking water taps, laundry facilities and electric pitches, making it suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes.
A newly refurbished play area keeps children entertained and trails lead straight into the forest for walking and cycling.

Nestled in the picturesque Stour Valley in a glorious countryside setting, Springfield Touring Park is a 3.5-acre site that offers spacious pitches and a base for visiting some of Dorset’s most popular destinations.
Amenities include a shower block with free hot showers, a play area, a laundry room, an undercover dishwashing area, and a book cabin where both books and games can be borrowed.
For 2026, the site has added a social room with tea and coffee-making facilities. Wimborne Minster is only 1.5 miles away, and guests are also well situated for trips to Bournemouth, Christchurch, the New Forest, and Poole.

Sitting only 300m from Seatown Beach, the picturesque Golden Cap Holiday Park offers an excellent base for exploring the delights of the South West Coast Path.
The seaside caravan park offers coastal views from many of its pitches too. The campsite has recently refurbished its toilet block and has also changed its opening times, now remaining open all year.
Guests will be able to enjoy a spot of fishing in the site’s lake, so long as they have a rod licence, or can head off-site to explore Lyme Regis and Bridport. There is also the opportunity to walk to the nearby Anchor Inn.
Site facilities include a Spar store, a dog exercise field, a children’s play area, and a picnic area with coastal views.

Enjoy a variety of local walking and cycling routes, including in beautiful Wareham Forest itself. Make the most of the site’s location to visit Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Corfe, Swanage and Studland.
