The Avanté is very popular with customers looking for a value-for-money tourer, and the range has always offered a wide selection of layouts. It’s remained a strong brand, selling well over the years.

Many Elddis dealerships have also based their special edition models on the Avanté.

By 2015, the line-up had eight caravan layouts. The impressive spec included blown-air heating by Whale. The generous storage was another strong point.

Model history of the Elddis Avanté 576

The range provided excellent layouts for families, although some proved less appealing and were discontinued.

For 2015, the Avanté was placed on an Al-Ko chassis with AKS hitch and ATC.

The eight models ranged from the 462 end-washroom two-berth to the huge 636 six-berth, a twin-axle caravan.

The Avanté 576, a single-axle six-berth caravan, was launched for the 2013 season, proving a popular choice. The layout provided a large front dinette, a very well-equipped kitchen on the offside, and opposite, a side dinette that could sleep two small children.

Then there were the offside fixed bunk beds, and the very spacious rear-corner washroom with separate shower cubicle.

This family-friendly layout was well thought out by the caravan brand, giving the 576 a very spacious feel.

Welcome design touches included the Avtex caravan TV aerial (although many owners seemed to prefer the Status aerial).

Another sensible addition for 2015 was the 800W microwave, placed neatly above the kitchen.

The designers clearly kept the family-friendly aspect in mind, offering ample storage that included a generous front gas locker, LED lighting and high-quality upholstery.

The spacious washroom in the 576 was ideal for families seeking top-notch facilities.

Price checker

We shopped around the dealers and found a few models on sale, all priced at £15,995 to £16,295.

We also spotted a private sale at £15,195 – but unlike our 576, that one had a mover fitted. For the rest of the Avanté range, you can expect to pay:

  • 462 £12,195-£12,499
  • 540 £12,995-£13,595

What to check for with a 2015 Elddis Avanté 576

  • Peeling graphics
  • Damp, mainly in front panel
  • Delaminating floor, especially in the kitchen
  • Peeling wallboard tape
  • Damp in washroom
  • Creaking floor
  • Scratched enamel sink
  • Leaking waste-water pipe

Alternatives

Looking elsewhere, you might consider the Coachman Vision 580/5 from 2015, which also has fixed bunks but only sleeps five.

This is a good-looking tourer with an excellent spec, and you could expect to see prices from around £15,995 to £16,995, and possibly £14,995 for a private sale, such as we came across. Otherwise, the 2015 Adria Altea Seven is another family-sized tourer, although not quite as well specified as the Coachman or the Elddis. Still worth a look, with prices around £14,995 to £15,000 for a six-berth tourer – and this one is lightweight.

Verdict

The Avanté remains a popular range to this day, but we’ve heard of a couple of issues with damp and cracked panels in older used models.

However, so long as you do the usual checks, including any repair work carried out, this is an appealing tourer, especially for larger families. Comfortable and spacious, the 576 offers a great layout and ample storage for your caravan essentials.
