Chipping Sodbury Caravans - Practical Caravan

A long-term specialist dealer for caravans from Bailey thanks to its particularly close ties with the caravan manufacturer, based just along the road from Chipping Sodbury (where the company moved to in 1999) at Bristol.

The dealership was founded over 40 years ago by husband and wife Mike and Mary Pickford and is run today by their son Jamie, whose wife Jen heads up the workshop side.

Jamie comments: ‘We pride ourselves on being the one-stop shop for everything Bailey and have never charged the delivery charges to our customers as we are only 13 miles from the factory.”

‘We have a fully equipped NCC approved workshop with many years of experience from our technicians and, by concentrating on one make, we can offer the full range of services from the annual service right through to large insurance jobs. As a team we are very proud of the award this year and it is nice to see our hard work recognised.’

Chipping Sodbury Caravans received a Gold Award at the Owner Satisfaction Awards 2023, thanks to a score of 89.1% in the Best new caravan supplying dealers category.

Nick’s first caravanning memory is his younger brother falling out of the bunk bed above him. That was over half a century ago. Around a decade later, his first driving experience was taking the family campervan across a field on his uncle’s farm. He’s now well into his fourth decade as a journalist specialising across the whole leisure vehicle sector. In that time, he’s worked for a wide variety of publications, testing literally thousands of vehicles and visiting almost as many different places throughout the UK, Europe and even beyond. These days, he’s never happier than when he’s out reviewing new/pre-owned/motorhomes/caravans/researching and writing touring articles for Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome. Or, failing that, you may well find him pitching near you in his latest campervan, a Volkswagen California (more often than not with his short, suffering partner, Lin, and crazy sprocker spaniel, Bonnie).
