Ropers Caravan World - Practical Caravan

Like so many caravan retailers, Ropers Caravan World is family-run. It was founded over 30 years ago by Roland and Margaret Roper, and subsequently joined by sons Roger and Richard. Today, the Roper team claims some quarter of a century’s caravan experience in total.

Ropers is located at Catterick Bridge in North Yorkshire, having moved to its current premises in time to open in March 1990. Here, there have been numerous upgrades over the years, including a centrally-heating showroom and a café. More recent enhancements include a redesigned service reception and new service centre buildings that are part of the Approved Workshop Scheme.

Ropers Caravan World is a dealer for new tourers from Bailey as well as a wide selection of pre-owned models from plenty of caravan manufacturers. It says its family values are the same today as they ever were – to provide a fair deal together with exceptional personal service.

Ropers won a Gold Award in the Best new caravan supplying dealers category at the Owner Satisfaction Awards 2023, with a score of 84.2%.

Nick’s first caravanning memory is his younger brother falling out of the bunk bed above him. That was over half a century ago. Around a decade later, his first driving experience was taking the family campervan across a field on his uncle’s farm. He’s now well into his fourth decade as a journalist specialising across the whole leisure vehicle sector. In that time, he’s worked for a wide variety of publications, testing literally thousands of vehicles and visiting almost as many different places throughout the UK, Europe and even beyond. These days, he’s never happier than when he’s out reviewing new/pre-owned/motorhomes/caravans/researching and writing touring articles for Practical Caravan and Practical Motorhome. Or, failing that, you may well find him pitching near you in his latest campervan, a Volkswagen California (more often than not with his short, suffering partner, Lin, and crazy sprocker spaniel, Bonnie).
