Swift’s Conqueror was a well-equipped range of tourers with an excellent selection of floorplans – the 2017 line-up offered eight layouts. The Swift Conqueror 630 in its current format came about in 2015; by 2017, as we look at here, could sleep up to six.

This good-looking caravan borrowed its construction and design from the manufacturers range-topping Elegance. The SMART timber-free build was used for several years in that profile – it wasn’t cheap, because it was quite complex to produce, and the profile was eventually changed.

These vans had a stylish and contemporary interior decor and were a hit with buyers seeking good looks, a high spec and quality build.

But the twin-axle, fixed-bed Swift Conqueror 630 was also a practical, family-friendly van, providing plenty of storage and living space. In addition, the layout made it ideal for use as a seasonal pitch, with its sizeable end washroom and large L-shaped lounge.

The Conqueror started out as a twin-axle version of the Challenger, offering improved spec. Launched as a separate twin-axle range in 1990, it proved very popular, and continued in production for almost 30 years.

The 630 had featured several different layouts since 2000, but by 2017, it had a six-berth floorplan.

With a large L-shaped lounge up front, side single dinette, side fixed bed, end washroom and central kitchen, it offered luxurious family touring.

The spec list was great and included radio/CD, barbecue point, exterior mains socket, solar panel, ATC and more; for 2017, some also added a Dometic fridge/freezer.

With those eight layouts to choose from, there was usually something to suit most buyers. Four years on, the Conqueror remains a popular choice in the used market, and the 630 offers a lot of tourer for the cash.

These Swifts are definitely very popular; in fact, as we were leaving the showroom, this Conqueror 630 was about to be sold.

No surprise there; it was in great condition and looked like new. If you’re in the market for a family-friendly, upmarket used tourer, the Swift Conqueror 630 is definitely a range to add to your shortlist, with that spacious L-shaped lounge and excellent washroom.

Bear in mind that you might have to hunt around – they sell quickly, as we found out!

For similarly family-friendly models, you could take a look at the Coachman Laser 675, another luxurious, fixed-bed, end-washroom tourer – you should find 2017 models for about £21,950.

Otherwise, try the six-berth Buccaneer Galera, with a host of kit; 2017 versions are on the forecourts at around £24,995.
