Swift’s Conqueror has long been a favourite among caravanners, mainly for its excellent spec and layouts.

The 2018 line-up comprised seven models, five having fixed beds. Of the three twin-axle caravans, one provided six berths.

Models for that year also received a smart new profile, which looks just as good now as it did seven years ago.

Add to that plenty of kit, good general storage and the brand’s SMART construction system, and the Conqueror is looking very attractive if you’re thinking of buying a used caravan.

Model history

The Swift Conqueror 560 was launched for the 2016 season. Although this fixed island bed, central-washroom tourer was a four-berth, it was clearly very suitable as a caravan for couples, offering lots of storage, a comfortable bedroom and large lounge.

The top-notch spec included a Dometic oven with dual-fuel hob, and another plus point was the Swift Command system.

The kitchen area
Storage in kitchen is good, and this worktop and sink looked almost unused

Other impressive bonuses included an alarm, a choice of soft furnishing options, caravan ATC, an exterior barbecue point and mains socket, a slimline Dometic caravan fridge, a Vision Plus TV aerial, alloy wheels, new graphics and Alde heating.

Twin-axle models in the range also came fitted with 30-litre on-board water tanks.

The rear bedroom
Rear bedroom provides twin wardrobes, plenty of storage and a Duvalay mattress

For 2019, the Conqueror was replaced by the Elegance, although the Conqueror name made a very brief reappearance before being dropped.

So does this range of luxury, super-smart caravans strike the right note as a used buy? They certainly still look very modern, both inside and out.

What to pay for a Swift Conqueror 560 2018

Shopping around to gauge the pricing customers could expect for a Conqueror 560 from 2018, I found prices ranging from £19,495 to £19,995. That meant the example I’m reviewing here was a promising prospect at £19,295.

For the rest of the range, you can expect to pay:

  • 480: £16,495-£16,995
  • 565: £17,495-£18,495
  • 580: £21,495-£23,495
  • 630: £19,995-£21,495
  • 645: £21,088-£23,195
  • 650: £20,995-£22,195

Verdict

The Conqueror range was always excellent value, offering a lot of tourer for the cash. Another plus point was that from this model year, they also saw a reduction in weight.

You should be able to see a good selection of layouts on the forecourts, and the 2018 models also received a new bodyshell, making them look sleeker.

So how did this 560 measure up as a prospective used buy? Very well indeed – I was especially drawn to its superb condition and high spec.

All in all, the comfortable, reliable Conqueror would make a great pre-owned buy. Style, spec and general high quality mean this is a range to watch out for on the forecourts.

Alternatives to the Swift Conqueror 560 2018

If you are on the look-out for a few other options, but with the same layout as the Swift, it might be worth considering the 2019 Lunar Clubman SR.

This tourer, which boasts a spacious and bright interior, has the same floorplan is the Swift Conqueror 560, and also offers a very good spec.

Alternatively, how about the 2018 Compass Camino 550? This van provides the same layout as the Conqueror, although here, the washroom is separated into two sections. Otherwise the layout is the same, and this is another tourer boasting superb kit.

Look at paying about £16,995 for a good Clubman and £17,995 for the Camino 550.
