8ft-wide caravans have typically been more popular on the Continent than they have in the UK, but in recent years, they have started to grow in popularity over here. Nowadays, British brands are launching them with increasing regularity. If you’re thinking of buying one, our best 8ft-wide caravan guide is sure to help you find the right one for you.
An 8ft wide caravan can divide opinion. They can be among the best caravans to consider if you want a nice bit of extra living space that just makes touring a more enjoyable experience (think more legroom in the lounge or extra storage, for instance). However, the trade-off is that these types of caravans can be harder to tow.
As they’re typically heavier tourers, you’ll need to make sure your tow car is well-matched, as well as ensuring you have a pair of the best caravan towing mirrors to see down the sides of these big old beasts.
In our guide to the best 8ft-wide caravans, we’re sharing our favourite models from the 2026 and 2025 seasons, featuring Adria, Coachman, Bailey and more.

The best 8ft wide caravans

Bailey Pegasus Black Edition Bologna
- Year: 2026
- Price: £32,498
- Berths: 4
- MIRO: 1505kg
- Payload: 170kg
- MTPLM: 1675kg
- Shipping length: 7.91m
- Overall width: 2.43m
Reason to buy:
- A spacious bedroom and a comfortable interior
Reason to avoid:
- Reaching the table is not the easiest
The Bailey Pegasus Black Edition Bologna has impressed us this season, showcasing just how well a twin-axle with an L-shaped lounge can work.
We actually named this 8ft-wide tourer the best caravan for seasonal pitches at the Practical Caravan Awards 2026, and it has ATC and an AKS3004 stabiliser to make the prospect of towing it less daunting. We like how stylish it looks, with its black decals and silver sides really catching the eye.
The lounge itself no longer features curtains, instead coming with smart velour panels and cassette blinds. Decide to go for the optional footstool, and the lounge actually morphs into a G-shaped space, where you could fit seven. However, while the table fits the space well, we found accessing it a bit tricky, as it’s stored beneath the bed, the base of which needs to be held up when you want to access it.
We like how Bailey has added a small window to what is typically a blank wall in this type of lounge arrangement, ensuring it really does get flooded with light, while you also get a wireless charging pad.
The L-shaped kitchen is a sociable space, and we thought it was well-kitted out, providing plenty of workspace, a four-burner dual-fuel hob, a separate oven and grill, a 122-litre fridge, a flatbed microwave and a stainless steel sink.
Ok, for an 8ft-wide caravan, we did think the end washroom was a bit of a squeeze to get into if the bed was pulled out, but the space itself is actually a nice size, and includes a large shower cubicle.
The designers have scrapped the wardrobes which were previously found on either side of the transverse island bed, too, and it really creates a feeling of space, as you would expect in one of the best 8ft wide caravans. It doesn’t mean you do without storage here, either, as a large wardrobe is found in the corner, while clothes can be stored elsewhere when you’re packing the caravan. For the other two berths, the front settee proves nice and simple to make up into a double bed too.

Coachman Laser 480 Xtra
- Year: 2026
- Price: £37,990
- MPTLM: 1550kg
- MIRO: 1425kg
- Payload: 125kg
- Shipping length: 6.43m
- Overall width: 2.44m
Reason to buy:
- Offers plenty of luxury and comfort to couples
Reason to avoid:
- Bed needs making up
The UK’s first 8ft-wide two-berth impressed us when we put it to the test, as we named it the best caravan for couples at the Practical Caravan Awards 2026.
One big plus of it being a two-berth is that it only has an MTPLM of 1550kg, which means a car with a kerbweight of 1823kg could tow it. ATC as standard makes it a less daunting prospect to tow, as well, while we like that it comes with Alde heating as well.
Inside, it’s a comfortable space, with that extra width really felt in how airy it is. A combination of the windows, a sunroom, and three Hekis ensure the space feels well-lit, while we found the settees comfortable to sit back and relax against.
We really liked the washroom too, particularly due to the headroom provided in the shower cubicle, while we thought a marble panel gave it a bit of a domestic vibe, helping to create that home on wheels vibe. A minor niggle was that there was only a single drainage hole, but you do get what our reviewer called “an unusually large and rectangular salad bowl-style washbasin”.
While the two settees could be used as two single beds, they’d only fit those under 6ft tall. The only other option is to make up a double bed, which, while large, requires careful placement of the slats, as they’re widely spaced.
Storage is excellent throughout, including a shoe locker, a huge wardrobe, concave overhead lockers, and some extendable basket shelving in the kitchen. For a couple, this could be an excellent 8ft-wide caravan to consider.

Swift Elegance Grande 845
- Year: 2026
- Price: £44,155
- Berths: 4
- MiRO: 1901kg
- MTPLM: 2102kg
- Shipping length: 7.98m
- Overall width: 2.45m
Reason to buy:
- A spacious and well-equipped tourer with an excellent washroom
Reason to avoid:
- You’ll need a heavy tow car to tow it
The 2026 Elegance Grande 845 comes with some minor tweaks that make an excellent tourer an even more enticing proposition.
Ok, it has a fairly hefty MTPLM of 2102kg, meaning a heavy tow car will be required when you’re working out the car/caravan match, but ATC and an Al-Ko stabiliser help with the towing. The 845 features parallel settees in the lounge, and it feels bright and airy, thanks to windows, a sunroof, a midi-Heki rooflight, and light woodwork. As standard, 4G Wi-Fi is provided, as is Alde underfloor heating.
There’s an L-shaped kitchen on the offside, and we liked the new splashback, which not only comes with storage pockets but also has a hanging utensil rail, giving it a homely touch. The kitchen itself is a nicely equipped space, which includes a Dometic integrated extractor fan, a plateless microwave, a 177-litre fridge, and a full Thetford dual-fuel hob. Storage is good too, and we liked that the drawers are soft-close.
The washroom itself may not have a window, but it’s a nicely lit space, thanks to the woodwork, a mini-Heki and an Omnivent, while an Alde ladder radiator keeps things cosy.
The bedroom still feels spacious, even though the transverse island bed, which comes with a Duvalay mattress, has been slightly widened for 2026. It’s a nice area, with a reading light on each side, a set of drawers, and a TV point at the foot of the bed.
Storage is also impressive throughout, including two large bedroom wardrobes and unobstructed underbed storage, with one new feature including wider external access points to the area beneath the bed.

Swift Sprite Grande Major 4 SB Exclusive
- Year: 2025
- Berths: 4
- MiRO: 1444kg
- Payload: 156kg
- MTPLM: 1600kg
- Shipping length: 7.54m
- Overall width: 2.46m
Reason to buy:
- Has a very comfortable lounge and looks smart
Reason to avoid:
- The day bed doesn not roll back
The 2025 edition of this tourer came with some thoughtful updates that made an already attractive caravan even more appealing, in our opinion.
It’s a single-axle 8ft-wide caravan, and with ATC and an AKS 3004 stabiliser as standard, we don’t think it will be too tricky to tow.
You would expect an airy lounge in one of the best 8ft wide caravans, and that’s the case here, with a Heki and sunroof allowing daylight to flood in. A handy shelf can be used for snacks, and we like how it comes with Truma vents to keep the entrance and aisle nicely warm. The extension flap may eat into the lounge a tad, but we think it will be needed, as otherwise, the worktop is on the limited side.
The kitchen is otherwise decently kitted out, though, coming with a separate oven and grill, a dual-fuel four-burner hob, and a flatbed microwave, as well as a 142-litre fridge.
Our tester thought it was impressive that the end washroom actually felt wider than it is, with two roof lights and a mirror combining to create a more spacious feeling. The shower is well lit too, although it only has a single drainage hole.
One thing we did think was odd was that the rear island bed didn’t roll back, although thanks to the width, it perhaps isn’t necessary. While this means you have to make do without a daybed, you could always bring cushions and make the most of the plush headboard the Swift comes with.

Coachman Acadia 675 Xtra
- Year: 2025
- Berths: 4
- MiRO: 1582kg
- Payload: 160kg
- MTPLM: 1742kg
- Interior length: 6.27m
- Shipping length 7.90m
- Overall width: 2.44m
Reason to buy:
- A spacious interior with a comfortable lounge
Reason to avoid:
- Shower door can knock into the basin
When we reviewed this 2025 tourer, we found ourselves impressed by the end washroom, transverse island bed caravan. It was a winner at our 2025 Awards, where we named it the best four berth caravan, and the ATC it is fitted with will help to make towing straightforward.
The Coachman has an L-shaped lounge, but we liked how the designers have not included the large blank wall that this layout would generally come with, as it allows light to flood in. You still get somewhere to put a TV too, with sockets found in a cupboard by the door.
We appreciated the convenience of how easy it is to stow the table, too, and you could sit four around it with ease.
When it comes to the kitchen, you get a large work surface, and even with four in the lounge, you should still be able to use the extension. It’s well-lit too, thanks to two Hekis and a window, while other features include a separate oven and grill, a 137-litre Thetford fridge freezer, and a flatbed microwave.
As you might expect from a caravan with a width of 8ft, the end washroom is straightforward to access, even when the bed is rolled out, and we personally quite liked the Tuscan Geo laminate pattern that was used. The shower provides excellent headroom, but we did have a slight gripe with a single-pane door being used instead of a concertina variety, as it knocks into the basin when opened.
Considering the Acadia is Coachman’s cheapest range, we liked how a sizeable dresser came in the tourer, and the bed provides plenty of comfort, coming with a huge headboard.
Storage is also pretty good, with the L-shaped settee providing a clear and easily accessible space. There are also three lockers overhead, while the rear bedroom includes an under-the-bed space and two wardrobes, among other options.

Adria Alpina Colorado
- Year: 2025
- Berths: 4
- MTPLM: 2000kg
- MIRO: 1837kg
- Payload: 109kg
- Shipping length: 8.26m
- Width: 2.46m
Reason to buy:
- Provides a comfortable lounge for relaxing in
Reason to avoid:
- No interior access to the space underneath the settees or beds
The 2025 Adria Alpina Colorado is a caravan with fixed single beds, and one that looks very sleek on the road. The interior could be a bit on the minimalistic side for some, but personally, we’re fans.
A combination of the sunroof and concave shape of the overhead lockers really helped to make an airy vibe in the lounge, which is also a fairly comfortable space. Cushioning extends to the floor, and we liked the headrest in each corner too, which makes it well-suited to relaxing in.
While it is a U-shaped lounge, you could always take out the central backrest to access a fold-out shelf, if required, too.
The kitchen includes a rectangular sink, which, merged as it is with the three-burner gas hob, creates an ‘L’ shape, while an extractor fan is also included. An oven and grill are all fitted as standard, while a microwave can be found behind a locker door, and a 140-litre fridge is also provided.
A large window makes the end washroom a light and spacious area, while the shower cubicle has good headroom, although a minor niggle for us was the single drainage hole.
We thought the fixed single beds both provided support and were a good size, and made a comfortable space to relax in too, as they can be raised at the head end. The settees are also nice and simple to put together to make up a large double, only requiring two infills.
