There’s something atmospheric about this time of year. The nights are drawing in, the temperature’s dropping, and, of course, Halloween is fast approaching, which means plenty of events are on to celebrate the spooky time of year up and down the country.

If you’re on the hunt for something to do this October, we’re running through eight of our favourite family-friendly Halloween events here…

Halloween: The Lost Crystal, Tatton Park

Enter a magical yet spooky show where you get to watch live performances from actors, jugglers, performers and more. Plus, the enhanced woods promise some particularly ‘spooky goings on’…

Aston Halloween, Aston Hall

When: 30-31 October
Where: Aston Hall, Birmingham, B6 6JD

With both a witch hunter and executioner on the prowl, your family will have to be on their best behaviour at Aston Hall. You will also get to find out about the 400 year history of the Hall, learning some fascinating stories along the way.

Marsh Farm’s Halloween Festival, Marsh Farm

When: 16-17 October and then 23-31 October
Where: Marsh Farm, South Woodham Ferrers, CM3 5WP

This family-friendly event presents you with the ideal chance to dress up. There will be plenty to enjoy, with funfair rides, a pumpkin picking patch, spooky 3D cinema, and much more on offer. Who knows, you may even bump into vampires or Frankenstein while you’re there…

Spooky Spectacular, West Midlands Safari Park

When: 22-31 October
Where: West Midlands Safari Park, Worcestershire, DY12 1LF

There will be plenty to keep the family occupied at this event, with a live Pumpkin Party stage show and a pumpkin scarecrow, plus a ‘Perils of the Pumpkin Patch’ Scratchcard Trail too.

Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park

When: 14-17 October and 21-31 October
Where: Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, WF1 5SH

An event that is billed as Yorkshire’s ‘biggest, scariest and most exciting Halloween destination’ is set in a 24 acre estate in Wakefield. Promising thrills and chills, there are several attractions on offer – all of which are included in the ticket price – including ‘Black Death’ and ‘Haunted Hotel’.

Please note, this is recommended for 12 year olds+ – parental discretion is also recommended.

Halloween in the City, Manchester

When: 30-31 October
Where:
Manchester City Centre

Manchester will be full of friendly monsters this Halloween, with activities and experiences running all weekend, including a monster carnival, bands, DJs and more. There will also be a chance to explore the creepy Dr Mancenstien’s Castle and Gardens in St Ann’s Square – just watch out for the man-eating plants…

Halloweden, The Eden Project

Where: The Eden Project, Cornwall, PL24 2SG

There will be plenty for all of the family at The Eden Project’s Halloweden, with a puzzle trail full of “creepy clues”, a Screech Owl Sanctuary and Potion Making Workship just some of the highlights. That’s before taking the award-winning Bakehouse Factory’s bespoke show into account, which will take place each day in the Citrus Grove.
