THERE ARE ONLY a couple more weeks of Tiguan loan left, but before the keys are handed back we’ve got some final projects for it. This week, the VW has been at Dunsfold Aerodrome (better known as the Top Gear test track) being used as a camera car during one of our towcar twin tests. Removing its dog guard and folding the rear seats down left 1511-litres of space – easily enough to swallowed all our gear, and a photographer.

It never stops
During the next two weeks it has some serious towing to do. Deputy editor Niall will be using it to tow our long term Bailey Orion 440-4 to Stonehenge, and then on to Devon. From there I’ll be picking it up and towing our Orion further South West to Quintrell Downs, just outside Newquay, for a four day surfing break in the July sunshine.

In fact, the Tiguan is getting used to being in the West Country. After using it to pull various vans to and from our Stowford Farm Reader Rally in Devon, it covered over 1000 miles on a round trip Niall made to Cornwall and the Cotswolds and back to the office, most of it with our long-term Coachman Amara 570/6 behind it. But it doesn’t end there. Here’s the VW pulling our Swift Challenger up levelling ramps for our recent product test, too.

Look out for a full round-up of our time with the Tiguan in the magazine soon.
