Verdict
This revised 845 comes well equipped, although no solar panel is fitted and we feel that GRP sides should perhaps be the norm at this level. The L-shaped brackets on some fittings slightly detract from the luxury feel, although otherwise it’s a solid tourer throughout.
We like the stylish soft-close overhead locker doors, the L-shaped kitchen and the well-laid-out washroom, not to mention Coachman’s excellent interior lighting.

Coachman’s reputation for producing quality luxury tourers is well known to many caravanners. The Laser name goes back 27 years, to the time when the twin-axle Laser was added as an upmarket version of the VIP.
The Laser range already offered luxury touring with a top choice of layouts and we were fans of the 2025 Coachman Laser 845 Xtra.
For 2026, the range saw the introduction of the Laser 480 Xtra, a spacious 8ft-wide two-berth, while the 2026 845, a twin-axle with an L-shaped front lounge and rear island bed floorplan, has had its washroom tweaked to accommodate a larger shower cubicle.
Does the tourer that was a highly commended contender in our best caravan for a seasonal pitch category at the Practical Caravan Awards 2026 still live up to customer expectations?
Pitch and set-up
This Coachman caravan is certainly distinctive in its looks: some may say its profile is in need of a subtle freshen up, but buyers love the safe styling.
The 845 is a twin-axle caravan and comes with ATC, an AKS hitch stabiliser, and heavy-duty corner steadies. For £1965 extra you can have a Truma Aventa Compact Plus air conditioner installed in place of a roof light, while an external BBQ point and mains socket are part of the spec.
Service points for the toilet (see: how to empty a caravan toilet) and battery/mains compartment are on the offside. An extra LED light is above the battery locker. Gas lockers are in the front panel, with one on each side, and there is a Teleco TV aerial as well as an onboard water tank.
Bold graphics complement the grey sides, while a glazed one-piece door is fitted. A large sunroof is fitted at the front, while the very sturdy grab handles are well placed. However, it is suprising that Coachman has not yet gone to GRP sides.
Lounge in the Coachman Laser 845 Xtra
An L-shaped caravan lounge can be something of a Marmite feature: you either love them or you hate them. But unlike some other manufacturers, Coachman has kept the L-shaped lounge layout in its ranges. The current 845’s lounge oozes comfort and luxury with super quality seating finished in grey.

A large sunroof allows a good amount of natural light to enter, so the lounge doesn’t feel gloomy. The LED lighting is, as usual in a Coachman, an excellent feature. Entertainment includes a DAB radio so you can relax with perfect sound.

The lounge also comes with a padded stool with its own storage inside, a feature we last saw on the luxury Lunar Alaria in 2017. There is also a large dresser on the nearside on which a TV can be sited.
Kitchen in the Coachman Laser 845 Xtra
The 8ft width of the 845 allows for a generous and luxurious L-shaped kitchen.
There is a good-size worktop, which is finished in white and, should you need a larger work surface, an extension flap is fitted. Alongside overhead lockers there is a neatly fitted microwave above the kitchen, and there’s also a handy extractor fan.

LED lights offer good night-time illumination, and there are two mains sockets. A Thetford full oven and dual-fuel hob adds to the spec, along with a separate fridge/freezer located opposite the main kitchen area.
Next to the latter is a cupboard with additional worksurface, along with a mains and a 12V socket. The Alde heating control is placed here, too.
Beds in the Coachman Laser 845 Xtra
The front lounge can be used as single beds, but many will pull out the extension slats from the seatbase to make up a double.

The rear island bed can be pulled out to its full length at night, and then rolled back to become a day-bed.
Washroom in the Coachman Laser 845 Xtra
The washroom is situated in the middle of the 845, with a tried and tested design that sees the handbasin set to the left as you walk through from the front of the van. Alongside this is a Thetford electric-flush toilet with a side window. Above the handbasin is a large and well-lit mirror.

The new-look shower cubicle is placed opposite and is slightly angled. It’s a fully moulded cubicle with a door, and a radiator on the outside next to it. It has a roof vent, too. This is a very well-laid-out washroom.
Storage in the Coachman Laser 845 Xtra
The Laser has plenty of storage for its occupants to make use of, which will come in very handy when you’re packing a caravan. These include options at both the front via overhead lockers, and at the rear, where you get twin wardrobes, more overhead lockers and storage under the bed.
The L-shaped kitchen also offers great storage thanks to its drawers and slide-out shelving. Opposite the kitchen you have more space, with a cupboard and an overhead locker.
Alternatives to consider
You could take a look at another tourer that has been refreshed for 2026, the Swift Elegance Grande 845. It’s an 8ft-wide tourer which provides plenty of space, a superb washroom, and is very well-equipped.
Alternatively, you could take a look at another tourer from Coachman, the VIP 565. It comes with parallel seating in the front lounge instead of an L-shaped lounge, and has fixed single beds at the rear, but has a spacious end washroom and slats that stay up when the bed is lifted.
