One of the most expensive tents on test and also one of the most surprising. Although Halfords can’t claim a history rich with tent design and manufacture, they have turned out an impressive product. As with all the pop-up designs we used, putting up the Halfords model was easy, springing to life straight from the bag. All the features are there akin to the more traditional brands, including that all-important double skin for warmth and condensation control.
The large interior can host a double inflatable mattress, which will be protected from insects and damp by a sewn-in groundsheet underneath and a 1500mm rated hydrostatic head flysheet overhead. Holding it back are the high price and its 98cm long bag, which could present storage difficulties. Yet considering the current Halfords half-price offer, this tent does little wrong whether used as an extra sleeping area or indeed for extra storage.
