Nottinghamshire Police are appealing for information after a caravan was stolen in the small hours of the morning one night last month, just outside Nottingham.
The incident, which highlights the importance of good caravan security, saw a Swift Icon FB/8 (a dealer special originally produced for Kimberley Caravans) go missing from private farmland in Swingate, Strelley.
Police have managed to narrow the time window during which it must have been taken to just seven minutes – between 2.14am and 2.21am on 16 April.
The caravan had the tow car registration plate EF18 KGX attached to it, and has the CRiS registration CRISR0356578.
It also has distinct red and black scratch marks down its side panels that were acquired since this photo was taken.
It is believed that unknown offenders gained access to the property first before breaking into the vehicle and towing it away.
PC Skyla Dodsley, who is investigating the incident, said, “The victim has not only invested a great deal of money into the caravan, but I’m sure it holds a lot of sentimental memories too. We would like to hear from anyone in the area who has any information, saw what happened, or knows where the caravan is.”
Anyone with information should contact Nottinghamshire Police quoting occurrence number 26*237236. You can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
The appeal for information has followed the recent successful return of a caravan that was identified by police thanks to an unusual sticker. The tourer, which had been heavily tampered with after being stolen in February, was successfully recovered in April.
One form of security you may be considering for your tourer is a tracker – if you’re unsure about whether to buy one or not, see what we have to say when we consider whether it is worth fitting a caravan tracker.
