Two exceptional eateries in North Wales have earned a coveted spot on The Good Food Guide’s 2025 list of the UK’s 100 Best Local Restaurants, and one of them is located in the heart of an Anglesey holiday park.
Now in its 15th year, the guide celebrates independently run, affordable restaurants that reflect how Britain is dining in 2025. With nearly 60,000 public nominations and follow-up visits from anonymous inspectors, this year’s list highlights great food without the high price tag.
While some may prefer to rustle up an on-tour feast using their tourer’s oven, hob or the best caravan microwave, for others, eating out can be a big part of the experience.
Flying the flag for Anglesey is Y Marram, tucked away in Newborough Warren Caravan Park, which borders Newborough Nature Reserve on the island’s scenic south coast. For those who want to be able to enjoy good food while being able to explore Anglesey, this could be one of the best caravan parks in Wales to consider pitching up at.

Run by brothers Liam and Ellis Barrie, the restaurant is a revival of their former venture, The Marram Grass, a wildly popular foodie destination that once drew visitors from across the UK. Following Ellis’ stint on BBC Two’s Great British Menu and closing The Marram Grass during the pandemic, the Barrie brothers took their farm-to-table passion to their Liverpool-based restaurant Lerpwl.

In 2024, the pair returned to the roots to open Y Marram at Newborough Warren Campsite, which has proved immensely popular with site residents and beyond. The family-run park is nestled just behind the modern-rustic restaurant, which serves up everything from pastries and brunch to tasting menus and seasonally-sourced dinner.
Also representing Gwynedd is The Dining Room in Abersoch, one of the smallest restaurants in the region but big on flavour. Led by chef Si Toft, the intimate venue has built a loyal following over more than a decade, with glowing reviews calling it the “best food in Wales.”
Whether you’re staying at Newborough Warren or exploring the coastal towns of North Wales, these standout spots are a must-visit for food lovers on tour.

Another campsite to make it into the news recently is Trewan Hall – the Cornish campsite has gone on the market for £3.5m.
