The updated Suzuki Vitara is a compact SUV tow car that is now coming with more kit, improved fuel economy and lower emissions.
Good economy is something you don’t want to overlook when you’re choosing a tow car. The Vitara is now capable of 53.2mpg in a 1.4-litre mild hybrid with manual transmission, and 56.4mpg for the 1.5-litre full hybrid automatic. CO2 emissions are as low as 113g/km.
Safety equipment and driver aids have been updated, and it now includes radar- and camera-based autonomous emergency braking (AEB), replacing the old lidar sensors. Suzuki claims the new AEB technology works better at night and can detect pedestrians and cyclists as well as other motor vehicles.
The styling offers a new-look front grille, bumper and rear spoiler, and a fresh design for the 17-inch alloy wheels.
The Suzuki’s weight shows no significant change, offering a kerbweight of 1227kg for the two-wheel-drive mild-hybrid manual. The Allgrip 4×4 has a higher kerbweight of 1347kg, although the maximum towing figure is the same at 1200kg. The full hybrid auto is slightly heavier.
The revised Vitara Hybrid is available in two specification levels, Motion and Ultra. Prices start from £26,949, rising to £32,199 for the Ultra Full Hybrid AllGrip.
