Yes, the Unicorn has finally evolved to be 8ft-wide. But all is not what it seems. The new Grande range is in effect what used to be the Alicanto Grande range, which has now been discontinued.

Unicorn Deluxe, a conventional-width range, remains largely as before, and now there is the even- narrower Unicorn Lite range, to appeal to people with small tow cars and EVs.

Still, the change from Alicanto to Unicorn Grande has allowed room for a new layout to enter the fray. So how does the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba shape up and should it be considered one of the best 4 berth caravans?

Pitch and set-up

The Cordoba is a twin axle, but it comes with ATC and an AKS3004 stabiliser as standard. A locker door gives you external access to the large area under the single bed, so you should find hauling out an awning and outdoor furniture relatively easy once you arrive on site. Plus you also get an offside services light.

Lounge in the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba

This caravan features a G-shaped lounge, with large settees complete with cushions and bolsters across the front and down the offside, and a smaller settee with a small sideboard unit down the nearside, underneath both a small window and a blank wall with a TV bracket, ideal for one of the best caravan TVs to go.

This is a versatile layout, as it isn’t completely dominated by the TV, although there is ample seating space for those who may want to watch it. The table fits in nicely too, although with the L-shaped kitchen next door it is a bit of a squeeze getting around to the other side.

The huge Bailey windows let in loads of daylight, while the LEDs in its housing provide an alternative when it gets dark.

Kitchen in the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba

While the L-shaped kitchen might make squeezing around the back of the table more of a chore, it does mean the chef has loads of space. There’s a large round sink next to the four-burner dual-fuel hob. The hob doesn’t come with an extractor fan but there is an Omnivent over the central aisle.

A separate oven and grill sits under the hob. On the other side there is a large Thetford fridge with a separate built-in freezer.

Sleeping in the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba

There is only a plastic concertina partition separating off the bedroom, but the beds in here are comfy and wide. They are nicely lit, too, with spotlights at the head complete with USB ports, and striplights under the overhead lockers.

The fixed single beds in the Bailey

Some manufacturers claim this particular layout is useful for grandparents touring with grandkids, because they can put the grandkids to bed in the single beds, and still have the front lounge to themselves to enjoy the rest of the evening before they make up the double bed.

The front bed
Settee quickly and easily converts into a comfortable double bed

If that sounds like one sacrifice too far for you, it’s worth noting that the double bed is very easy to make up, very comfy, and even allows extra sitting space if one of you wants to sit up later.

Washroom in the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba

The end washroom is probably the most impressive thing about this caravan. It’s easily large enough to get dressed in, particularly as it comes with its own huge wardrobe. Just bear in mind the clear window on the offside. It is nicely warmed with a ladder radiator from the Alde heating system.

The washroom comes with all the essentials, plus a handy wardrobe

You also get a massive shower cubicle that’s easy to access through a concertina door. In the centre a large well-lit lozenge-shaped mirror sits in front of a built-in basin.

Storage in the Bailey Unicorn Grande Cordoba

When it comes to packing the caravan, you get external access to the large storage areas under the single beds at the back here, so it’s all the more surprising that you don’t get internal access flaps. You have to lift the beds up, which are quite heavy.

Overhead cupboards in the kitchen
Well-placed cupboards and lockers provide plenty of useful storage space

Up above there are two large overhead lockers and two corner lockers, plus four more over the beds at the back. But when it comes to clothes storage it is the washroom that excels here, because it includes that huge double hanging wardrobe. It also includes a small double cupboard under the basin, and another smaller cupboard above the loo.

Neat stowage solutions make for a clever use of space

In the kitchen there is a three-shelf cupboard in the ‘L’ peninsula, with two drawers next to it.

Alternatives to consider

You could take a look at the Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra, a tourer which comes with extra width, a comfortable front lounge and good looks.

You could always consider an Alicanto Grande too, such as the 2026 Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Sintra, a tourer which provides a very sociable lounge and offers luxury.
