Swift’s new Sprite Exclusive range, like last season’s Challenger Exclusives, is offering a little bit extra in models that will be sold through select dealers only, such as the Sprite Exclusive Alpine 4 and the model I’m reviewing here, the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD.

This time around, however, Swift has used the opportunity to make a couple of subtle layout changes to some of the models in the line-up. And that includes the Major 6 TD, which has been a staple of the range for some years now. I went to take a look to see what I made of the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD.

Pitch and set-up

The Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD is a 7.63m-long single-axle, but due to its Exclusive spec level, you have the Al-Ko ATC system fitted to keep things steady.

On site, an external locker door on the nearside should provide an easy way to get out the camping furniture, and if you still need space for more, there is a locker on the offside rear corner as well.

This model includes an external barbecue point and mains socket, too, so it shouldn’t take long to get the party started.

Lounge in the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD

In previous iterations of the Major 6 TD, the door was near the back. Now it has been moved closer to the front, the other side of the kitchen, so the first thing I saw was the front lounge to my left.

I thought it was a good lounge too, big enough for six people to sit comfortably in, something which is always going to be an important feature in the best tourer caravans. There is a pull-out shelf above the central chest, a good place for snacks, although with the main TV socket in the nearside corner, you might find some space taken up by a set.

In any case, the foldaway table – also big enough for a family – is only a step away, in the wardrobe on the offside.

I found there was plenty of daylight, thanks to a large sunroof, a Heki and big windows. Only the front windows are fitted with actual curtains, but the side windows have smart cloth panels on either side, which I thought help to make them look even bigger than they are.

The lounge area
Large table easily accommodates six at mealtimes and there’s plenty of underseat storage underneath

As well as ambient light, two LEDs are included in the housing for the sunroof and Heki, with two speakers for the radio. A wireless charging pad – another useful extra – lies on the front sill next to a USB port and 12V socket in the offside corner.

What I liked about placing the door here is that it means the children have a cosier space of their own at the back – a good trait in a family caravan.

The dinette and bunk beds
Dinette makes an ideal space for the children to relax in

Beside the permanent bunks is a small dinette. The kids shouldn’t complain about being digitally deprived, because inside the cabinet separating the dinette from the bunks is an aerial socket, with a hole in the top of the cabinet to keep the cables tidy. There’s another mains socket under the large settee, while a heating vent in the small settees will keep everything cosy.

Kitchen in the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD

An extension comes with the side kitchen, and I reckon you would probably need it, as workspace is on the small side. This is partly because of a large sink, and a four-burner dual-fuel hob (another improvement on standard Sprite) above a separate oven and grill.

The kitchen area with the worktop extension
Well-equipped kitchen, but you’ll probably need to use the worktop extension flap

There is a microwave to the right, along with the standard Swift curved shelf with two sockets above, just right for your caravan kettle, toaster or radio underneath. The slimline fridge, a feature of all Sprite Exclusives, is to the left of the base unit.

Washroom in the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD

There’s a step up to the washroom, but the separate shower cubicle is huge, something which can be an important trait in this type of caravan. The wheel arch butts into it, but I think this will actually provide a good spot for a small child to sit while being washed. There is no roof vent and only one drainage hole, but the shower is well lit. In the main washroom, you have a square handbasin in front of a good mirror, and a circular toilet.

Sleeping in the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD

The advantage of moving the door towards the front is that the adults can put the kids to bed behind the concertina partition and continue their evening without disturbing them. I reckon the children should be content too, because along with numerous sockets, the rear bedroom includes a spotlight and a window for each of the permanent bunks.

The sizeable double bed
Employ settee backrests and slats to make up a sizeable double bed in the lounge

In the lounge, the offside settee is 10cm longer than the nearside, accommodating anyone up to 6ft 3in tall, although you may prefer to make up the double with the slats.

Storage in the Sprite Exclusive Major 6 TD

Big storage spaces in the front include the nearside underseat area, which is accessible from inside and out via a flap, and the large hanging wardrobe, giving you space for packing all of your essentials before heading off to your chosen family caravan park. The offside underseat area is partly taken up with the heater.

At the back, alongside the little chest you have the area under the permanent bunk, also accessible from outside, while clear areas under the back settees can be reached if you lift the slats. Both lounges come with ample overhead lockers.

The kitchen has a large overhead locker, a pan locker under the oven and a cupboard with a huge cutlery drawer. There’s also a cupboard under the basin in the washroom.

Alternatives to consider

The Sprite Exclusive Quattro MB is another six berth from Swift which is highly innovative and includes a repositioned corner bed. Another six berth to consider is the 2024 Adria Adora 623DT Sava, a stylish option to consider with plenty of storage and a homely feel.
