The site that won the title of the best caravan park in Devon is a worthy Regional Winner. It’s set in the grounds of Langstone Manor – once the family home of famous poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge – and it now provides visitors with an on-site restaurant and bar.
The picturesque park is found in a sheltered woodland valley on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. It’s a part of the David Bellamy Conservation Scheme, and is a truly tranquil setting, with lots of stunning trees and plants providing wildlife with natural habitats.
As well as touring pitches, you’ll also find camping pods, statics and cottages, along with facilities that include hot showers, toilets, hairdryers, a dishwashing area, laundrette, underfloor heating and a chemical disposal point.
The playground is sure to keep children occupied, while table tennis is also on offer. Dogs are also welcome, although it’s worth noting they need to stay on a lead.
It also makes an excellent base for taking in the stunning star-filled skies on offer at Dartmoor National Park, as well as a great spot if you want to explore the coastline in both Devon and Cornwall.

Sitting on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, this scenic site extends for eight acres, within the UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve.
Situated near Okehampton, Appledore Park offers grass or hardstanding pitches with 16A hook-up and drinking water. Anglers will be pleased to hear there is a carp fishing lake, while the owners have planted more than 4,500 trees.
On-site facilities include a heated toilet and shower block with privacy cubicles and a dedicated disabled area. It’s a dog friendly caravan park, with a fenced dog-walk, as well as a dog-shower.

Barley Meadow Touring Park

This adults-only campsite is ideal for both walkers and cyclists, thanks to the access it provides to the Two Moors Way and Dartmoor National Park.
It’s only 20 minutes from Exeter and is near the A30, yet despite this, it’s a peaceful park in a stunning setting. The landscaped grounds offer visitors beautiful views.
The fully serviced pitches come with fresh-and-waste-water hook-up, while other amenities include showers with underfloor hearing, a disabled toilet and a laundry and washing-up area.
If you’re touring with a canine companion, you’ll be pleased to hear there’s a secure dog-walk, while you can follow a footpath from the site to reach a farm shop and cafe.

Hallsdown Farm Touring Park

If you’re looking to explore Devon and Exmoor National Park, Hallsdown Farm Touring Park could be the perfect place to head to. It comes with 30 touring pitches, 14 of which are fully serviced hardstanding and have a water tap, grey-water drain and electric hook-up. 2021 saw 10 premium pitches added, all of which offer en-suite facilities.
It’s a site that really does focus on peace and quiet, with no dogs permitted.
You’ll find Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are only 30-minutes away by car, while there are numerous attractions to head to in the area, including Arlington Court, the Carriage Museum and Exmoor Zoological and Conservation Centre.

Newberry Valley Park

Found in a stunning valley, Newberry Park is full of wildlife. The family-owned park has a David Bellamy Conservation Award and rabbits, buzzards, badgers, owls and pheasants are regularly spotted. As well as this, the site is home to rescue chickens and four alpacas.
The tranquil setting is dog-friendly, and has ancient woodland, a children’s play area, and you also have the option of hiring chimenea.
The facilities include a shop, shower room with underfloor hearing, a laundrette and a dishwashing room.

This adults-only CL is open all year and sits near the River Tamar. As well as fully serviced touring pitches, there is also a self-catering holiday cottage and a B&B.
One of the traits of the best caravan parks in Devon is being well situated for exploring the region – that’s something this park certainly provides. It makes a great base if you want to visit Bodmin Moor, the Tamar Valley and Dartmoor National Park. The site – which is near Launceston – is also well-placed for heading to Bude or Tintagel, as well as Mevagissey and Polperro.
There is a modern shower room, and is in the process of adding a laundry and washing-up area. Future plans include adding a dog-wash.

Found only a short distance away from South Molton, Riverside Caravan and Camping Park is a spacious site with 10 acres of woodland trails.
Running through the park is the River Mole, while it’s also an excellent location for taking in Exmoor National Park and North Devon’s coast.
There are good facilities on offer, including a rally field and dog-walk, while a play area should keep the children entertained. Amenities include a shower block with disabled facilities, shop and reception, along with a restaurant / bar. Evening entertainment is also provided at the site.

If you want to take in Dartmoor, Woodland Springs Touring Park really does make an excellent destination. It’s adults-only, and has touring pitches, camping and glamping pods.
The site is only a 10-minute drive away from the moor’s higher reaches, which are a perfect setting for embarking on a walk, cycle or ride.
Alternatively, you can take the A30 to Exeter – it’s only 18 miles away.
Amenities include new showers, disabled facilities, laundrette, a shop, a barbecue area and a dog-exercise field, while this year, a dozen larger, fully serviced premium pitches have been added.

There’s a dog-walking area, along with fresh-water and waste points. A shop, showers, family rooms and disabled facilities are all provided, as is a games room which offers table tennis, pool and TV.
