Genesis may be an unfamiliar name to some caravanners, but if the new all-electric GV60 is anything to go by, this is a brand that we’ll definitely be hearing a lot about over the next few years. Genesis is the luxury arm of the Hyundai Group, so underneath that rather distinctive appearance, the GV60 is related to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6.

The GV60’s cabin is similarly spacious, but more luxurious than those of its relatives. Soft-touch materials and metallic switchgear give an upmarket appearance. It’s good to drive, too. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive model has a healthy 229hp, rising to 318hp for the four-wheel-drive car and 490hp for the range-topping 4×4. All three will accelerate briskly, but using full throttle in the most powerful model is rather like being shot out of a quiet cannon!

That’s hardly relevant for caravanning, but Genesis did lay on a demonstration of the car’s towing ability. While hitched up to a horsebox, we parked on a wet test track with one side of the car on a low-grip surface, the other with normal grip. We were told to floor the throttle and allow the stability systems to keep the car pointing straight – which they did. We look forward to putting the GV60 through a longer test on familiar roads soon, but in the meantime, check out our best tow car guide to help you find the vehicle for you.
