The UK’s first ever 8ft-wide two berth makes its appearance in the Coachman line-up for the 2026 season.

The Laser 480 Xtra includes a spacious end washroom, a large L-shape side kitchen and opposite a sideboard with a large “media wall” above it to provide a space for one of the best caravan televisions.

The front lounge features parallel settees, both of which should be long enough to act as single beds for anyone under 6ft tall, but can also be merged together with the help of slats to make a huge double in this 8ft wide caravan.

Visitors to the Motorhome and Caravan Show this October will be able to see the Laser Xtra 480 on the Coachman stand.

Within the Laser range as a whole, which with the 480 now includes seven models, Coachman has also made changes to the single axle 545 Xtra and twin axle 845. This is to allow the introduction of a new shower cabinet with new saloon doors – see how this compares to the 2025 Coachman Laser 845 Xtra.

Elsewhere, two VIP models have also had their layouts revised. The 545 has reverted to having separate “Jack and Jill” doors in front of its rear inline island bed, with a washbasin on a central pillar in between them – a layout that the model had when it was first introduced over a year ago

The end washroom VIP 565 has also been changed so that the wardrobe is now contained within the end washroom.

VIP continues as a seven-model range.

In terms of spec improvements, most of the changes this year come within the more upmarket Laser and Lusso ranges.

Laser models now come with a new “Primavera” wood colour, while the overhead locker doors have been redesigned and now come with a two-tone “slate” and “pebble” colour scheme with black handles. Backrests have been made more substantial and kitchens now come with pull-out wire baskets in the lower unit.

Lusso models, meanwhile, now run on an uprated two-piece Al-Ko chassis, giving the Lusso II and III models an MTPLM of 2200kg, and hence more payload. In contrast, the 2025 Lusso III had an MTPLM of 1984kg.

Lusso models also come with a Truma air conditioning unit as standard, while they also get the “Primavera” wood colour and pull-out kitchen baskets, as well as a curved, L-shaped kitchen worktop.

Both Laser and Lusso models now come with a Bluetooth speaker system, while Lussos are ready for 5G Wi-Fi.

The Acadia range, much updated last year, continues largely unchanged this year. But the 675 model has been dropped, taking the model tally down to four.

Coachman is not the only brand to be sharing information about the new season. Bristol-based Bailey has launched the new Black Edition Phoenix and Pegasus ranges too, with features in the tourers including new kitchen layouts.

In other industry news, two caravan dealers at opposite ends of the country have switched to storage, including one based in Liskeard which was at one point the only Sprite dealer for the whole of Cornwall.
