Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra 2027

You are probably familiar with Coachman’s 575 layout, with a transverse island bed and an end washroom. Over the years, it has often been Coachman’s best seller.

Now for the 2027 season, and in the company’s cheapest Acadia range, it has been widened out to be an Xtra model, an 8ft-wide caravan. We had a look at the Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra at Coachman’s 2027-season launch, where the brand had its updated Acadia and VIP caravans on display.

Pitch and set-up

The 575 certainly looks swish with its silver sides and sleek decals. Coachman has moved away from the ‘white box’ end of the market in recent years, but it’s a pity some items are not included as standard compared to rival models.

Caravan ATC, for example. It is included as part of an Optional Lux Pack that also gets you an external BBQ point and mains socket (also not included as standard).

You might feel ATC isn’t necessary when the 575 is a conventional width, but it might be more reassuring to have it on this type of caravan. I certainly would go for that pack, as with the other items it will make dining outside that much easier, especially as this caravan makes it easy for you to set up outside quickly with two external lockers.

Lounge in the Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra

You appreciate the extra width of the new caravan when you come in through the new one-piece door. It feels just that much more roomy, something which could be enticing if you’re on the hunt for the best 4 berth caravans. This is an impression enhanced by the daylight that floods in through the sunroof.

There’s enough room for four people to sit in here in great comfort. And even at night, the four LEDs in the housing for the sunroof, the four new matt black spotlights, and the ambient light coming from behind the lockers should keep things warm and bright.

Those spotlights come with inbuilt USB ports, and you’ll also find a USB and USB-C port in the offside corner of the front sill, with a mains socket in the opposite corner.

The marble-effect worktop – another new feature this season – does add a bit of class. There’s plenty of workspace here, thanks to the slight L-shape of the unit, with sockets close by.

You get a large round sink, and a dual-fuel four-burner hob above a separate oven and grill below it. There’s a flatbed microwave on the other side of the aisle, so perhaps the only surprise here is that the fridge is only half-height; it has a volume of 91 litres.

Beds in the Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra

The transverse island bed here is well kitted-out with an ample headboard, two bedside tables and two spotlights. There is a small dresser unit with a mirror and sockets below it either for a hairdryer or for a second TV.

The two settees in the front lounge are luxurious enough to work as single beds for smaller folk, but they also come together with the slats that roll out from the central chest to make a huge double. Unusually, even if this is an 8ft-wide van, you don’t need infill cushions here.

Coachman washrooms are usually easy to identify as the company continues to use single-pane shower cubicle doors when most others have gone for concertina doors that you tie up.

The washroom here is no exception. But that door does open out into a cubicle that is ultra spacious, with a large black showerhead and useful riser.

Storage in the Coachman Acadia 575 Xtra

I like the new flat design of the locker doors in this caravan. They make the interior feel roomier – and they still come with handles. I like their two-tone design, too, and they are certainly not clunky.

There are two of these lockers in the front lounge, as well as two corner lockers, whose doors open downwards, so do not get in the way. There are three more overhead lockers in the rear bedroom, which also includes two bedside tables, a small dresser and a large hanging wardrobe in the rear corner.

The base unit comprises a large shelved cupboard on the left, a column of three drawers in the middle, and another locker under the oven. Not bad, really, for when you’re packing the caravan.

Alternatives to consider

If you like the idea of pitching up in a tourer with some iconic style, you could consider the Airstream World Traveler 22RB – it may have a hefty price tag but it’s well built.

Or you could take a look at the Bailey Alicanto Grande Deluxe Sintra, a tourer which offers a sociable and cosy lounge.
